 Volunteer


A Volunteer is someone who contributes, be it regularly or occasionally, to aid organisations at home or abroad without remuneration or obligation.
 

 Aid Worker


An Aid Worker is usually someone who works on a full-time basis for an international aid programme for a defined period. The Aid Worker is bound by an employment contract and receives an allowance.

In France :

The International Exchange and Solidarity Volunteers (V.I.E.S. Volontariats Internationaux d’Echange et de Solidarité )

 

This generic term groups all the French volunteer operations which allow all ow people to donate their services according to their motivations and free time:
 
- hands-on international operations
- international solidarity volunteering
- public service
- solidarity holidays
 
Only two of these areas are remunerated - the international solidary volunteers (in accordance with a set payscale) and public service (around 450 € per month, with accommodation).
 
For the other types of service no specific remuneration scale for the volunteers in the other areas. These volunteers should raise funds for their mission or finance themselves.

Internship


An internship is a period of learning, training or improvement during which a student, who is registered with a higher level education institution, can put his theoretical knowledge into practice and discover the realities of professional life. It is usually part of a training agreement between the educational establishment, the host establishment and the trainee.
 
 

Humanitarian aid sites

 
These are visits which are organised to allow volunteers to participate in the realisation of group projects for a community (building a school, giving literacy classes, environmental protection…).
 
 
 

Employment Missions


These are professional missions defined as part of a work contract in your country or abroad.

For information concerning entry, stay, health, security, transport etc. in a particular country, please consult the diplomatic website of your Embassy in this country.
